Another day, another thought.
I was driving to the local convenience store (Sheetz) to grab some food for a very-late lunch at work. On the short drive there, I see an early 2000s 3-series coming the opposite direction and I give a look since I'm a BMW driver as well and he gives me a killer head-nod, almost hair-rock level head-nod.
I am proud of my car, I love my 2011 335is but I don't know if the nod was because of the model I drive or the fact that it was simply a BMW.
So, do you participate in Car Comradery? Do you acknowledge people that drive the same make or model as you? Do you think people who drive certain makes participate more often than people who drive other makes?

I don't seem to have enough people willing to participate in the Diesel Benz Nod, but I imagine part of that is that mine's not an obvious and cantankerous W-123. Make/model also looks to be a hard act to follow for any of my others. I'll give a nod to a sweet Bim or other Autobahn fighter, though, even if I don't get one back - relaxed "car like mine" limits.

I get head nods in my Z all the time, even from modern 350/370 owners, and nearly all the other 70s and earlier owners (even American classic drivers). In the truck I get a few nods while driving and only from other 22R-era Toyota owners, but tons of nods and conversations in the Home Depot parking lot (and "If you ever want to sell" notes). I try to nod to other cars that catch my eye or have some interest, or even give a wave or thumbs-up if the vehicle/timing warrant it. There's enough negativity and bad attitude on the road. I figure a few "hey, nice car" gestures can't hurt to try and nudge things back towards sane a bit.
